Brooke announced as Equerry Bolesworth International’s chosen charity for 2017
Brooke, Action for Working Horses and Donkeys, has been named the chosen charity for as Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show, which takes place 14 – 18 June .
The two organisations are working together to raise awareness of the lives of working equines overseas. Brooke, a UK based charity, works globally to protect and improve the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules, which give people in the developing world the opportunity to work their way out of poverty.
They will be launching a new campaign in the lead up to Bolesworth, How the Other Horse Lives, to highlight the difficult lives of horses, donkeys and mules and their owners, living and working in brick kilns. More details will be revealed closer to the event.
“We are delighted to have Brooke involved as this year’s charity and are excited to be working in partnership with them,” commented Nina Barbour, Event Director for Bolesworth International. “Our aim is for the event to be a huge hit with both competitors and visitors – and we have big ambitions for Dressage at Bolesworth and are thrilled to have launched our new CDI***. A truly exciting time for Brooke to have partnered with us.” Brooke works in over 3,000 brick kiln sites across the world offering training and advice for animal owners and handlers and emergency vet treatment. They are also training local service providers such as farriers, saddlers and cart makers to prevent welfare issues in future.
Petra Ingram, Chief Executive of Brooke said: “We’re thrilled to be charity partner for The Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show. It’s a spectacular event that’s really evolved in the last few years to become one of the leading international horse shows, featuring world class show jumping and dressage. It’s the perfect opportunity for Brooke to raise awareness for hardworking equines amongst people who are equally dedicated to horses.
“Brooke staff and volunteers will be there throughout the event promoting what life is like for hard working horses, donkeys and mules overseas and what Brooke teams around the world are doing to improve their lives.”
