Review Bridleway Ontario Lightweight Turnout Rug

bridleway Ontario Lightweight Standard Neck Turnout Rug Carrot

Launched in 2018 and complete with a rather cool Carrot Print, the Bridleway Ontario lightweight standard neck turnout remains a good option for protecting your horse against spring and summer showers. Since launching, this rug has also been seen in horse and doughnut prints* (featured below).

It was one of the first types of ‘funky print’ rugs welcomed to the market, which historically only featured solid colours of blue, red, and green. It has since evolved in design featuring a better fit to the horse, with the addition of gussets.

This is a great cross-over rug to use when going from a heavyweight or medium to a lightweight for those chilly summer evenings or to help keep dry your horse dry during the typical UK downpours.

The outer 600D ripstop material, which features the classic yet fun variety of Bridleways prints, is waterproof and breathable to ensure your rug stays intact. The tail flap will help protect the tail at the top from rubbing and midgies.

The rug features typical buckle chest straps, cross surcingles, a fillet strap, and anti-rust metal fittings to preserve the longevity of the fittings. The earlier versions fit snugly around the wither (feature image), where the breast area is quite deep, which suggests it may be suitable for a finer breed horse. However, newer versions include a deeper cut. There is no wither protection, but the cut seems to sit higher up the neck.

Later versions of the Bridleway Ontario lightweight rug also include shoulder gussets, which aid comfort and help prevent rubbing over the horse’s shoulder area.

Sizes 4’6 – 7ft

The Bridleway Ontario lightweight rug is priced at around £55.00.
