Bolesworth Estate to Host Young Horse Championship Show

Nina Barbour yesterday afternoon talked of ‘joining the dots’ during the official launch of the H F Sport Horses Bolesworth Young Horse Championship Show. The event, due to be held in August 2019 at the stunning Bolesworth Estate in Cheshire, will focus on young British horse talent, with an overall aim to ‘promote the best’ and make British breeding great once again.

Discussing plans, direction and focus, Nina was joined by industry influencers including Chief Executive of the BSJA, Iain Graham, local International Showjumper Geoff Billington and Tullis Matson of the Stallion AI Services.

“You realise when you’re in the sport, and you’re organising events for the sport, that there’s a real demand out there for events to get the industry together” said Nina “We are aiming to put some building blocks in place to really make this show a hub for the industry”.

  • When: August 14 – 18 2019

Formerly known as British Showjumping’s Young Horse Championship, the re-formatted schedule alongside a new venue, hopes to further raise awareness and drive forward the message that Britain does produce good jumping stock.

Said Iian Graham “For us, this is something we’ve been supporting for a long time which has needed to be moved up for a year of two”.

As more and more trainers head to Europe to select youngstock for showjuming, now more than ever focus is needed on promoting a shift in trend, to encourage selection from Britain.

The show will feature classes for 4, 5, 6 and 7-year-old horses, at the same time as holding the qualifier for the September’s FEI World Young Horse Breeding Championships, held in Lanaken, Belgium.

These will run alongside CSI** and CSIAm International classes with the young horses all having the chance to experience jumping in the amphitheatre-style Main Arena with the atmosphere of a true International competition.

The opening night on August 14 will include an Eventing Grand Prix, and a Ramiro B Elite Auction for foals, yearlings and two-year-olds sired by the legendary Ramiro B.

The finals of a new British 3-year-old Loose Jumping Championship will be held on the Thursday night.

Facilities on site will include a full resource for vetting should owners and trainers choose to use the event as a platform to purchase youngstock.

Qualifiers, which will be held in July for the new Bolesworth Young Horse Championship, will take place at the following venues:

  • PYECOMBE (Sussex)
  • ONLEY GROUNDS (Warwickshire)
  • MUIRMILL (Scotland)
  • SPOT ACRE (Staffordshire)
  • LEDSTON EQUINE CENTRE (Yorkshire)

Visitors to the event in August can register for free, with hospitality also being available. Parking is offered at £5. Visit www.universe.com/events/the-home-farm-bolesworth-young-horse-championships-tickets-tattenhall-QG1YBC to book now.
