Sycamore Auction Presents Strong Collection for 13 October
Sycamore Auction’s Breeders United Auction takes place on 13 October 2026, with a collection that ranges from three-year-old prospects through to established competition horses. There is something for a wide range of riders, from juniors and amateurs to professional riders, and the horses are all discussed in an accompanying podcast by Joanne Sloan Allen and Sameh El Dahan (Sam).
Joanne and Sam talk about the breeding and development of the horses, as well as what they like about each individual. They feel the six-year-olds are one of the strongest groups they have had, although some have become firm favourites and are proving harder to part with than others.
One of those is WKD Little Lord, a son of Mylord Carthago out of a mare Joanne competed at World Cup level. He has impressed the team with his balance, temperament and scope.
There is also WKD Zeus, who is related to Sam’s Grand Prix horse WKD Toronto, while WKD Hunter is by Tangelo and out of one of Sam’s Grand Prix mares.
WKD Last Love is another six-year-old attracting attention. She is being produced by Arielle Allen, who represented Ireland on young rider teams before finishing her studies and joining the WKD Sycamore team as a professional showjumping rider.
Last Love is described as intelligent, brave and naturally careful, with a good attitude towards her work. Arielle also has one of her Grand Prix ponies, WKD GI Joe, in the auction, which could be of particular interest to a young rider looking for their next competitive partner.
For those looking for a horse with more experience, WKD Little Gem is a twelve-year-old homebred mare by Emerald. She has competed up to 1.50m and had a successful junior career, while her maternal family adds further interest for anyone considering her breeding potential. Another horse the team are enthusiastic about is WKD Hurricane. The eight-year-old is by Emerald and is a half-brother to another of Sam’s five-star Grand Prix horses. He has been given plenty of time to mature and develop, rather than being pushed too quickly.
That is an important part of the approach at Sycamore, with Joanne and Sam keen to give horses the time they need and to build their confidence as they progress.
The auction also includes a three-year-old for the first time, giving someone the chance to buy a horse at the beginning of its career and take it through its early development.
With such a varied collection, the team’s focus is very much on finding the right match for each horse. The podcast gives potential buyers the chance to hear Joanne and Sam talk about the horses in their own words, alongside the videos and information provided for each entry.
