Oxfordshire based 4* eventing fixture, SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials, has sadly announced that it will not be returning for 2021 following cancellation of this year’s event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A decision made by the hosts, British Eventing, the move comes as a substantial loss to the industry where no doubt competitors and eventing fans will be shocked and saddened to see the event cancelled.

It is with regret that we have made the decision to cease organising the SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials, and it marks the end of an era for British Eventing.  The event team, led by Mandy Hervieu, have done a fantastic job over the years, and the Organising Committee have provided a vast amount of time and knowledge to support the running of the event.  I would also like to thank all those who have volunteered over the years for their support of the event, we could not have done it without you.

News of the 2020 cancellation SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials came as a disappointment earlier this year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. However, since then, many equestrian events have re-scheduled and for those lucky enough to go ahead, it hasn’t been without challenges met in making sure all attending are kept shielded and well.

Frequented by a selection of the sport’s most prolific winners, Blenheim Horse Trials was one of the only equestrian events to host a CCI4*- L and CIC4*-S over one weekend. The RoR Championships, hosting classes from Prelim to Elementary was a popular integration, which offered diversity to the field of competitive action, with other eventing challenges at 90 & 100cm (BE90/BE100) popular with Grassroot competitors.

Holding out hope

All hope, however, is not lost as British Eventing has issued a further statement detailing interested parties to come forward, with a tender process due to be concluded by the end of this year.
