BEDE Events announce exciting plans for Catton Park Horse Trials

Catton Park Horse Trials on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire borders will return in 2022 under the portfolio of BEDE Events.

Having taken a short hiatus in production, the event will once again be held in the 250 acre parkland estate where it has been ran since 1993. With owners, Robin and Katie Nielson retiring, next year’s horse trials will be managed by the team at BEDE Events, working alongside the Nielson’s son, Oliver.

An event at Catton Park was last held in 2018 and BEDE Director, Stuart Buntine has exciting plans for next year when the horse trials will run on June 18 and 19.

Said Stuart:

We are really excited to add Catton Park to the BEDE portfolio of events and it is great to be working with Oliver to ensure that we are able to see the return of horse trials to Catton.

We really want to ensure the future of what is a wonderful event, held over a picturesque, historic estate situated on the banks of the River Trent near Alrewas.”

Catton Park will host BE100, Novice and Intermediate sections over the two days with the private estate owned by the Neilson family for more than 600 years.

Said Oliver Neilson:

It is good to be planning for horse trials to return to Catton Park after a three year absence, and working alongside Stuart and the team we really want to put on a showcase event in June.

The Catton estate lends itself superbly to the sport of eventing and we can’t wait for many of the leading names to make their way to Derbyshire for the horse trials next year.”

Catton is a glorious private Estate ideally situated in the centre of England and perfectly laid out for events.  The 250 acres of surrounding parkland have been in the hands of the same family since 1405 and the present Hall, built in the 1740s, is the home of the Neilson family and currently run by Oliver and Lindsay Neilson.

The present house, originally designed by James Gibbs and built by Smith of Warwick for Christopher Horton stands on the banks of the River Trent.  .
