Anticipation increasing for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes
Later this month on the 24th of July will see the King George taking place, in what is always one of the key races across the UK flat racing calendar. It usually brings in a star studded line up and 2021 is no different. The odds have started opening up on sites listed at tvg horse betting and punters are going to be getting involved on this usually popular betting heat. The current favourite is the Aiden O’Brien trained four year old Love, who has now won her last four starts in succession and also has a record of seven wins from 11 starts. Love won three starts in succession last season, that included a stunning victory in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas stakes at Newmarket. She then followed up in the Investec Oaks with a nine length victory, before rounding out the season with a five length victory in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks.
Love then picked up an injury and had to spend the rest of the season on the side lines. Love was then pulled out of numerous races, and it appeared we could actually have seen the best of the horse, but she finally returned after 300 days at Royal Ascot. Love then returned in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and was very well supported in the run-up to the race. It proved to be money well placed, as she battled on gamely and made all to hold on by just under a length. She will now be expected to take all the beating the King George, with improvement likely.

The key horse taking her on will be Adayar, who is coming off the back of a fairly surprise victory in the Epsom Derby. Prior to this, he had only won one of his four career starts and went off at odds of 16/1 for the Derby. Despite this, he produced an incredible performance to win the race easily and he was ridden clear and stayed on powerfully to win going away by just over four lengths. If he can produce a similar performance, then it sets up for a fascinating duel between the pair.
