The Echo Arena Liverpool will play host to some of the biggest names in showjumping, as the tremendously successful Liverpool International Horse show returns to give us a second year spectacular from the 31st of December to the 2nd of January 2017.
Alongside the opportunity to witness some of the biggest household names in showjumping, we will also be lucky enough to have live music from the winners of Britain’s got Talent 2014, the spellbinding operatic four piece, Collabro. However the fun doesn’t end there as fantastic performances from Abba tribute band, Revival, and a showcase of skill and talent from the internationally renowned carriage driver George Bowman, will make it a new year’s extravaganza to remember.
A large dose of cute and amusement will be administered through the family favourite, The Shetland Grand National, which will be held on all three days of the show. The Shetland Grand National is an entertaining spectacle for all ages, as well as providing the foothold to launch young jockeys into professional Jockey careers in later life such as National Hunt jockey’s Tom Garner, Sam Twiston-Davies and Flat jockey Jim Crowley.
Liverpool International will provide the perfect opportunity to make some pleasurable purchases with the expansion of their extremely popular shopping village. The new and improved shopping village hosted in the adjoining BT convention centre, boasts outlets retailing high-end clothing, equestrian accessories, giftware, fine foods and charming home accessories. The show is the perfect opportunity to indulge in some fine dining (and drinking) with; a bistro style restaurant, a chic champagne bar that borders the collecting ring and a fresh new Mersey view restaurant where you and the family can soak up the impressive Liverpool backdrop.
The show embrace’s the New Year celebrations as it incorporates a party atmosphere into the proceedings. The evening performances will be later than last year on New Year’s Eve and Indoor fireworks will welcome 2017 in unique style.
Last year’s Liverpool’s grand prix victor, Irish Showjumper Billy Twomey, described the event as “a wonderful show” and “really different”. He praised the family element of the event: “I have three small children that I don’t often get to spend time with as I’m often abroad, but the kids really enjoyed the dressage lady and the music before classes. We were able to spend time as a family, which isn’t very often, so from a personal point of view it was wonderful.” On this year’s performance Billy believes that “Words gone around to the even higher riders this year, so it could even be a notch up again.”
Adult tickets can be purchased from £19.50; tickets will also be available for children under 14 years old for £10. Family tickets for two adults and two children are available, adult group bookings of 15 people or more in silver and bronze seated areas carry a 20 per cent discount. Additionally new for this year will be platinum band tickets offering front row seats.
