This month the team at Everything Horse tried and tested the 2016 Aldi Equestrian Range. We were sent a selection of polo shirts, t-shirts and hoodies to write a review on, and we can say we were far from disappointed.
The quality of material used throughout the range is fantastic. Each had a different mix of materials to match the cut and style of the garment. They even feel nice to the touch.
Each garment type has a selection of different styles and colours. All are lightweight, easy to take on and off, and have a degree of stretch-ability without losing shape. The buttons, studs, and zips used throughout were of very good quality, adding to the overall finish of each item.
Washing and Drying
When washed the material didn’t lose overall quality, feel or fit. All were also easy to dry over a radiator or on a hanger (depending on the thickness of the material). In addition minimal ironing was needed on items that were dried over the radiator. We even threw one in the tumble dryer, which to our surprise on taking it out, it hadn’t shrunk! Although we wouldn’t recommend tumble drying each garment continually, the once certainly didn’t hurt!
Size and Fit
The sizing of each garment is fair for what you would expect in a UK range. A medium would comfortably fit a size 12-14. The collar fit, across the range, gave plenty of space around the neck and when done up, it didn’t restrict movement or feel uncomfortable.
The fit differs depending on the type of garment you choose. The slight tapering on the polo shirt flatters the feminine shape, while the looser sweater, designed as a lightweight summer option, will help keep the chill away.
We particularly liked the fit of the lightweight hoodie (pictured right), as it hung nicely when worn and wasn’t restrictive when mucking out or riding.
Value
Aldi are known for value and they have certainly lived up to their name here! All of the items we trialed, range in price from a very affordable £4.00 for a t-shirt to £12.99 for a sweater!
The range also includes denim Jodhpurs, which we can’t comment on as we didn’t receive them. These are £24.99. The standard Jodhpurs will retail at £12.99, and Bamboo/Crew riding socks are also available for £4.99.
In conclusion, we would recommend the Aldi Equestrian Range to anyone wanting to add durable, comfortable, quality products to their summer wardrobe. At the price they retail for, you’ll be stuck for choice while stocks last!
The range will be available in stores from Thursday June 30th.
