Alfie Bradstock and Elliott Smith were the joint winners of Saturday evening’s Theraplate UK Puissance, held at the Bolesworth Young Horse Championships.
As the rain from earlier in the week had finally cleared, crowds gathered around the international arena for the last class of the day where a big heart, accuracy, and timing was everything.
Both Alfie and Elliott each took home a shared prize fund of €1755, onboard horses H. d’OR (image above), owned by Darragh Magner and Flamboyant III (below), owned by Victoria Smith, respectively. Both combinations tried their hearts out until the 5th and final round, where the height of the famous red brick wall hit 2m 20cm.
A total of seven horse and rider combinations lined up including; George Whitaker, Alfie Bradstock and James Smith.
In second place was Nick Benterman, of Volo Sports Horses. Onboard his ride Cartos Z, the pair made it to the final round but unfortunately bottomed out when picking up penalties for not clearing the wall. However the pair did canter away with a not to be sniffed at €1020.
