Dary Al Khalediah wins Tiwaiq Central European Arabian Derby!
Dary Al Khalediah won the first ever edition of the Tiwaiq Central European Arabian Derby. The prestigious race entered the Polish racing calendar this year and immediately attracted top 4-year-old Arabians to the starting line. The race took only 2’16,1”, which is an excellent time.
Born in 1982, the patron of the race, Tiwaiq, made a huge contribution to world Arabian horse breeding and along with Amer is one of the most recognizable and acclaimed purebred Arabian racehorse sires. For the Saturday race, Poland AKF, which sponsored the race, lined up three of Tiwaiq’s grandsons – Mayar Al Khalediah, Rasma Al Khalediah and Dara Al Khalediah. The strong Mayar Al Khalediah was the favorite.
He was the one to set a very reliable pace, which he gradually turned up. After coming onto the straight he started to run away from his rivals, but Rasmy Al Khalediah and Dary Al Khalediah appeared right behind him in the middle of it. Ridden by Szczepan Mazur, Dary Al Khalediah accelerated brilliantly at the end and unexpectedly defeated Mayar Al Khalediah. Rasmy Al Khalediah came third and the Polish-bred Alsahr (bred and owned by Zbigniew Górski) came fourth. The trainer of the winning horse is Bartosz Głowacki.
It is likely that we will see the best horses in this race at the start of the Arabian Derby in France.
