Willa Newton to compete in Event Rider Masters at Bramham

Rising star of eventing, 26-year-old Willa Newton from Melton Mowbray,  is delighted to have made the cut for the second leg of the Event Rider Masters  (ERM) Class at the forthcoming  Equi-Trek Bramham Horse Trials in Wetherby, Yorks, 9-12 June 2016.

The Event Rider Masters (ERM) is a new and exciting CIC*** series with record prize money and a goal of showcasing the sport of Eventing to new global audiences. In 2016 the six legs incorporate iconic British events where the world’s top riders will compete for the coveted Event Rider Masters title and a £30,000 series first prize.

A former junior European gold medallist, Willa will be competing in the Bramham leg of the ERM on her 16-year-old, Neelix who last weekend finished 11th in the feature CICO*** (Nations Cup) class at Houghton International Horse Trials against top international competition.

Willa notched up four double clears in total at Houghton, to clinch an impressive tally of placings at the event. These included a third place on Lauries Laudatio 2 in the CCI* class and a 4th on Caja 20 in the CCI**, which was won by Pippa Funnell.

“I was thrilled with my horses at Houghton and am so excited to be part of this fantastic new Event Rider Masters Series.  I feel the training I have done in Germany has made a real difference to my dressage and that investment is really paying off.   I have some really nice horses coming through and would love to be up there for possible team selection next year, having built the foundations this season,”commented Willa.

Willa’s recent performances, which include two good wins at Richmond back in early May, have not gone un-noticed by innovative equestrian clothing company, Noble Outfitters, who have just come on board as new sponsors for Willa.

“Their clothes are so comfortable.  They have a technical layering system which really does seem keep me at the perfect temperature whether I’m riding, teaching or just in and around the yard,” added Willa.

Willa has a few syndicate spaces left for owners interested in her young horses.  For further details visit the syndicate page of her website at www.willanewtoneventing.co.uk/owners/syndicates/
