Why these horses make the ticket
Mini Mac arrives on the back of wins at Wolverhampton and Southwell, but he has a wide draw to negotiate in the opener. Luna Beaux gives the ticket a second chance of getting through. The draw is also a consideration for Oppenheimer in the second leg, so Barry The Worm, a previous winner over this course and distance, joins him. Crown Of Ivy and Break Some Rules are the two picks in the juvenile novice.
Red Blue Point is the first banker after a narrow defeat over five furlongs at Windsor, although this is his first run on the all-weather. We go back to two in the 6.30pm sprint: Honour Your Dreams has run well over course and distance, while Stash The Cash starts from stall one with headgear back on. Politely, another previous course-and-distance winner, is the sole pick in the final leg.
The tightest leg on the Wolverhampton ticket
The 7.00pm fillies’ handicap leaves little room for error. With six runners listed, the usual Placepot terms cover the first two, so Politely needs to finish in the top two if the field size holds. By contrast, nine runners are listed for Red Blue Point’s 6.00pm maiden, which would ordinarily pay three places. If that field drops below eight, the third place could disappear. Check the Wolverhampton racecard for late withdrawals.
How much does today’s Placepot cost?
Two selections in four legs and one in each of the other two make 16 lines. At 10p per line, the total stake would be £1.60, subject to the Tote’s minimum stake and entry terms.
A Placepot line needs a placed horse in each of the first six races to qualify for a dividend. A banker is the only horse picked in a leg, so if it runs and finishes outside the places, every line on the ticket is out. See the Tote’s Placepot rules for place terms and how non-runners are handled.
18+. Selections are opinions, not guarantees. If you choose to bet, only stake what you can afford to lose.
