An Important Week of Competition Ahead for Young Horses on the 2021 Sunshine Tour

In another week bursting with anticipation and competition for young horses and their riders at this year’s Sunshine Tour, theirs everything to play for! The pressure really is on as, in order to get into the finals, the pairings must accumulate 4 clear rounds.

This Wednesday Young Horses that have qualified will jump in the first Young Horse Final of the 27th Edition of the Sunshine Tour. As of today (22/02/2021) 189 horses have qualified overall, 67 in the 7yr olds, 72 in the 6yr olds and 50 in the 5yr olds.

At the start of the new week there were a large number of combinations jumping on what was a very lovely sunny day. Tuesday is the last opportunity for a few of the horses that still need one more clear round to qualify for the Final and also, any that want to jump a practice round ready for Wednesday.

The 7yr old class was a 2 phase Special. The talented Belgium rider Jérôme Guery was the winner of one section with Tender Dream Hero Z, this is a Zangersheide who has only had one pole down in 13 starts in international competitions. Tender Dream Hero Z is by Thunder vd Zuuthoeve with the dam sire Carthago Z. In second place was Axel Van Colen riding Empress D’Authuit and in third was David Will with Junior Kannan.

In the second group the Swiss rider Jane Richard Philips was the winer riding Ocean. With the clear round today this combination assures their place in the Final. In second place wasIgnace Philips De Vuyst with Jasper and in third place was Eveliina Talvio from Finland riding Dolce Vita Z.
