As another fruitful year of dressage competition comes to a close at Somerford Park, it can be concluded that it was resounding success registering strong entries across all classes.
Premier League FEI Intermediate I – S
Cheshire based Sarah Higgins enjoyed considerable success throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, clinching victory in a selection of hotly contested classes including Monday’s Inter I, sponsored by Saracen Horse Feeds. Sarah and her horse, Waldessarini posted the highest score of 71.10%.
I’ve had a great weekend I’ve had quite a few horse here and feel quite weary!”
My best result to date was my win in the Inter II on Saturday on Sarah Rao’s Alfranco. I was terrified as it’s a very new level to me and only my second time I’ve ridden at that level, although ‘Alfie’ is super experienced and just awesome, and held my hand the whole way through.”
In 2nd place was Helen Dutton riding Valdorama D finishing on 69.56%, with Darcas Lever and Valentijn WG in 3rd scoring 68.29%
Prix St Georges
The Prix St Georges class, sponsored by Fairfax Saddles, was won by Cara Shardlow riding Detonator II. This was the first time back competing for both Cara and the horse following injury for both. Cara was over the moon with her win:
It means so much to come here and win today and just the motivation I need” said Cara “looking forward to competing the rest of the season and hoping to do some more Premier Leagues.”
It was Lottie Flinn who took 2nd place on board Royal Rebel SH, with Kate Cowell and Ray-ban in 3rd.
