Pegasus Jewellery Raises an Amazing £2,400 for The Racehorse Sanctuary

Equestrian News:: Everything Horse

Leading equestrian jeweller, Pegasus Jewellery, has raised an amazing £2,400 for The Racehorse Sanctuary. Every penny raised will go directly to help the sanctuary support the rehabilitation of ex-racehorses.

The money was raised from the sale of 480 Purple Poppy Pins since their launch in autumn 2019. 50% (£5.00) from the sale of every single pin went directly to the Racehorse Sanctuary’s fundraising campaign. The 50% meant that Pegasus made no profit at all on this item, apart from covering manufacturing costs. This extraordinary generosity has enabled Kim and the team at Pegasus to raise a wonderful sum of money for the charity.

The funding has arrived just in time after the sanctuary launched a key fundraising campaign following the impact of coronavirus COVID-19 at the end of March 2020.

The Racehorse Sanctuary is a charity based in West Sussex which takes in ex-racehorses who need a new life. It doesn’t matter if the horse never won or never even ran, they all get the same attention. While the aim is to rehabilitate them to the point where they can get a new home, some never leave. These horses have physical or psychological issues which mean they are unsuitable for rehoming. The Racehorse Sanctuary takes a long-term approach with all equine residents and gives them ample time to adjust.

Fans and followers of Pegasus Jewellery know that it is a brand founded on a deep love of everything to do with equestrianism. That meant supporting the vital work of the Racehorse Sanctuary was a natural next step. Pegasus customers are horse lovers and jumped at the chance to support the Sanctuary. The Purple Poppy Pins were first released in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday 2019. Purple poppies are worn to remember the animals who lost their lives in conflict, often worn alongside the traditional red.

The Purple Poppy Pins, which retail for £10.00, are crafted from beautiful purple glitter enamel. They make a really beautiful addition to any outfit at any time of year. This pin was designed in collaboration with Scottish contemporary artist Val Macadam and the results are stunning! Every pin comes with a postcard featuring original artwork by Val, drawn exclusively for this collaboration.

The COVID-19 illness has meant charities like The Racehorse Sanctuary is seeing their donations dry up completely. As with other rescue centres, The Racehorse Sanctuary has ongoing bills for the care and upkeep of its residents which include expensive veterinary and farrier visits. Pegasus Jewellery will continue to sell the Purple Poppy Pins so they, alongside customers, can continue to support the fundraising campaign at this vital time.
