Osberton Moves to Thoresby for One Year Only

Osberton International Horse Trials have announced a change in venue for the 2020 event due to unprecedented circumstances. Scheduled to be held on October 8 to 11th, the prestigious event will now take place at Thoresby Park, only six miles down the road.

Thoresby Estate is home to The Eventing Spring Carnival, which was due to be held for the first time in March 2020. Following on from the success of the event, the team at Thoresby has welcomed the opportunity to take on this autumn three-day event for 2020 as a one-off relocation. This change in the location is required due to COVID-19 concerns arising from the close proximity of the event at Osberton to the estate community living in Scofton Village.

Run by the team at BEDE Events, Osberton International Horse Trials offers a variety of competitive levels for horses at different stages in their eventing career. A highly regarded event in the BE calendar, the venue Osberton is also home to the British Eventing Young Horse Championships.

BEDE’s Stuart Buntine commented:

During these difficult and uncertain times we are delighted to announce that the competition planned for Osberton will be going ahead, albeit at a different venue.

We fully understand the COVID Secure concerns at Osberton Estate and we are all looking forward to a fantastic event at Thoresby which can better accommodate the event during these extraordinary times.

There has been much to do and final plans are still being implemented, but we will announce the full timetable shortly.”

The change of venue has also had the full backing of British Eventing with CEO Jude Matthews adding:

It is fantastic that the competition due to take place at Osberton, including the British Eventing Young Horse Championships, are able to run thanks to co-operation and so many people working together. We would like to thank Thoresby for stepping in with use of the estate facilities. The decision to change venue has taken place at very short notice and we are grateful that this key fixture is not lost from the 2020 calendar due to Coronavirus.”
