THE Springfield Stud 4YO Showcase at this year’s Osberton International Horse Trials proved a resounding success with 39 entered in this innovative class. After a fantastic afternoon, the class went to Andy Heffernan riding Millfield Bambalina for owner Freya Cork.

A new ride for Andy, the talented youngster has been produced by Ginnie and Will Turnbull, qualifying for the Burghley Young Event Horse and showing huge potential. Bred by the Millfield Stud, the mare was originally purchased at the highly regarded Bolesworth young horse sales and is delighting all connections with her progress.

Said Will:

She is very talented and we are all looking forward to seeing her develop through the grades with Andy.”

Taking second place was Cheshire-based Becky Hartley with Loughview Verdis Dream, who delighted her with his consistency.

Said Becky:

Ginnie Turnbull and Tom Collins rounded off the top three, delighting the Leicestershire-based rider and owner, Constance Edmundson.

We were fifth in the Burghley Young Event Horse Final and I kept him ticking over since them.

Even at such a young age he is a true professional and I couldn’t ask for more from him, a brilliant way to end the season.”

Feature Section

In the feature section of the day, the classes included a dressage test, showjumping and a cross-country section incorporating a water complex.

With a busy dressage schedule throughout the day, leading the way in the Howden Way 5YO 1*S is Sarah Squires with Van Kaunitz.

Heading the Howden Way 6YO 2*S is Kevin McNab with Faro Imp and at the top of the leader board in the 7YO 3*S is Bubby Upton with the grey, It’s Cooley Time.

Said organiser Stuart Buntine:

It has been a great day at Osberton International, it was great to see so many riders out competing and with a smile on their faces.

Everyone is in fantastic form and we are looking forward to more dressage in the Investec CCI2*-L and BEDE CCI3*-L with cross-country for the Howden Way Young Horse classes tomorrow as well as dressage in the Bennington Carriages Driving Trials.”
