The excitement is building as British Equestrian has announced the 18 horse-and-rider combinations nominated for the Agria FEI Eventing European Championship 2025 – and it’s happening right here on home soil at the stunning Blenheim Palace from 18-21 September.

The nominated squad reads like a who’s who of British eventing, with household names and rising stars all vying for their chance to represent Team GB at one of the sport’s most prestigious championships.

The Big Names

Leading the charge is Oliver Townend with two potential mounts – the legendary 18-year-old Ballaghmor Class and 11-year-old Cooley Rosalent. At 42, Townend brings a wealth of championship experience to the squad.

Rosalind Canter, 39, has an impressive three horses nominated: Izilot DHI, Lordships Graffalo, and MHS Seventeen – giving her excellent options for the selectors to consider.

Laura Collett will be hoping to secure her place with the experienced London 52, a 16-year-old gelding who’s proven himself at the highest level.

The squad showcases the depth of British eventing talent, with Bubby Upton at just 26 representing the younger generation alongside Cola and Its Cooley Time.

Yasmin Ingham, 28, originally from the Isle of Man, brings Rehy DJ to the mix, while Emily King, 29, has the experienced Valmy Biats as her nominated partner.

Tom McEwen has two strong options with Brookfield Quality and JL Dublin, both proven at championship level.

Piggy March, 44, adds exceptional experience and skill to the already strong squad line-up with Halo.

While Harry Meade, 41, has two potential rides in Cavalier Crystal and Et Hop Du Matz.

Caroline Harris brings Cooley Mosstown and D. Day to the selection mix, and Gemma Stevens completes the nominated entries with Flash Cooley.

What Happens Next?

From these 18 combinations, just six will be selected to represent Britain at Blenheim Palace. The final squad announcement is expected in mid to late August, giving the selectors time to assess form and fitness.

All selections remain subject to horses and riders maintaining their fitness and performance levels throughout the summer season.
