Horsebox involved in incident on M56 today
The M56 saw long delays today after a horsebox overturned, causing chaos on one of the busiest days of the year.
Notably and most importantly, the horse involved in the incident was not seriously injured and was seen ‘out and walking’ according to a Facebook user.
The M56 was closed in both directions between junction 8 and 9 for some time. The jam no doubt caused considerable hold-ups for many, including Kerry Katona, who was on her way to a pantomime in Ellesmere Port, where she is playing the starring role of Snow White.
A replacement horsebox was sent to travel the horse away from the incident, along with other recovery vehicles needed to clear the debris. The National Highways used X (formerly Twitter) to keep those travelling in the direction up to date with alerts and diversion information.
