New study examines load pulling and spinal movement in military horses
New equine research involving 107 military and police horses has examined how a history of load-pulling work may be associated with movement through the horse’s spine.
The research involved horses from organisations including The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, the Defence Animal Training Regiment and The Horse Trust.
Researchers identified differences in rotational and translational spinal movement among horses with a history of load pulling. The findings add to research examining how different types of work and exercise may influence equine movement.
