Scott Brash, Ben Maher lead FEI Jumping European Championships 2025 squad heading to Spain this July
British Equestrian has today revealed the five jumping combinations that will represent Great Britain at the FEI Jumping European Championship 2025 in A Coruña, Spain, from 16–20 July.
The British Equestrian Jumping Squad, in partnership with Agria, features a compelling mix of championship veterans and emerging talent, with several horses making their championship debuts.
FEI Jumping European Championships 2025 Squad (in alphabetical order)
- Scott Brash (39, Horsham, West Sussex) rides Lady Pauline Harris and Lady Pauline Kirkham’s Hello Folie– a 10-year-old chestnut mare by Luidam x Diament de Semilly.
- Ben Maher (42, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire) partners Charlotte Rossetter and Pamela Wright’s Point Break – an 11-year-old bay stallion by Action-Breaker x Baloubet du Rouet. Maher also has two direct reserves: Dallas Vegas Batilly and Enjeu de Grisien.
- Jessica Mendoza (29, Wellington, Florida) brings her own In The Air – a 12-year-old black mare by Air Jordan x Indoctro.
- Matthew Sampson (34, Sheffield, South Yorkshire) rides Medoc de Toxandria – a 13-year-old bay gelding owned by Rachel Gredley, William Gredley and Unex Competition Yard.
- Donald Whitaker (32, Dagobertshausen, Germany) completes the team with Millfield Colette – a 12-year-old grey mare by Cornet Obolensky x Clearway.
- Non-travelling reserves include Robert Whitaker with Vermento and Joseph Stockdale with Ebanking.
Building Towards Success
Jumping Performance Manager Di Lampard expressed her excitement about the FEI Jumping European Championships 2025 squad composition: “This is a hugely exciting group with a mix of experience and huge potential. Both Ben and Scott have horses making their championship debut, Matt makes a long awaited first senior championship appearance, Jess is back in the squad for the first time since being named as reserve for Rio 2016 and Donald will be looking to build on the experience he gained at the last European Championships in Milan with a new horse.”
The team’s consistent form throughout 2025 has been impressive, with the championships serving as a crucial stepping stone towards next year’s World Championships.
Championship Support
The squad’s preparation is supported by funding from the National Lottery and UK Sport through the British Equestrian World Class Programme. Key partners including Agria, Bates Saddles, Dodson & Horrell, NAF, SEIB and Toggi, along with team suppliers Equi-Trek and Lotus Romeo, provide essential year-round support.
The final squad selection remains subject to fitness and performance requirements, with potential amendments possible until midnight on Monday 30 June.
