The Board of the Endurance GB has announced an extended ride cancellation period due to the Government’s isolation procedures. In light of the notification the board have decided to extend the period until mid-June.

Endurance GB had previously cancelled all rides to the end of May. The extension to mid June was announced in a member-wide email this morning (27/03/2020) from Chair Phil Nunnerley and Vice-Chair, Esther Young.

The cancellation affects the RiderCise® Southern Championships and all other classes at Three Rivers (6-7 June) as well as Thoresby, Three Shires, Cwm Sirhowi and Wirral.

Vice Chair Esther Young said:

We are reviewing potential alternative dates for all of our cancelled rides to see what we can fit in at the back end of the season if we are able to.

We are very grateful to RiderCise who have kindly agreed to roll the prize money for Three Rivers over to next year if we are unable to reschedule.”

she added:

Thank you to all of our ride organising teams who have been so supportive and understanding. It is always disappointing to have to cancel something that you are so passionate about, but there is sadly no other option.”

Endurance GB Chair Phil Nunnerley said the focus would remain on planning for resumption later in the season as well as communicating with members to keep the strong endurance riding community closely in touch over the coming months.

Phil Nunnerley commented:

What the remainder of the year looks like will depend on how the country recovers. We remain hopeful that we will be able to offer rides in the latter half of the year, but we are extremely mindful that the situation could become protracted and unpredictable and that we will need to take a very flexible approach. We are working with the groups to identify what we can offer quickly in case our return to ridden events has to be more low-key in the first instance.”

Online training, competitions and fun activities will be available during this period to help keep stakeholders invested in the association and activity. Members ideas and suggestions are encouraged to help build an online portal that is not only educational but offers other areas of value too.
