For the first time, British Dressage members competing at prelim level and above will have the opportunity to perform in the same world-class venue as international CDI competitors – with no qualification required.

Accessible Competition at an Iconic Venue

Running from 11-17 May 2026, the national competition offers amateur and professional riders alike the chance to compete at one of Britain’s most prestigious equestrian venues. All British Dressage members with registered horses are welcome to enter classes ranging from prelim to prix st georges (PSG) level.

“We are delighted to be able to bring the Dressage Masters back to its original home of Hickstead in such an inclusive format and with an outstanding line-up of sponsors,” said show director Daniel Watson. “It’s a true celebration of talent, partnership, and the spirit of dressage.”

Competition Format and Prizes

The event offers a unique two-day format designed to reward consistent performance:

  • Day One: Riders compete in their chosen level using championship tests (prelim 6, novice 6, elementary 6, medium 6, advanced medium 6, or FEI PSG)
  • Day Two: The top 15 combinations from each class qualify for a freestyle test in the international arena
  • Champion of Champions: A new title will be awarded to the combination achieving the highest combined score across both days

Generous prizes include rosettes to 10th place, with sashes and rugs for overall winners.

With entries capped at 40 per class, organisers are operating a first-come, first-served allocation system. Entries open on 1 January 2026 at 5pm, with full fees and details to be confirmed shortly.

Overnight stabling is available, and the event will feature evening entertainment including a charity ball.

Strong Sponsorship Support

The classes have attracted an impressive roster of sponsors including Deepdene Stables Kent, Premier Performance, RW Equine Vet Ltd, Perry Equine Supplements, Headmore Stud, the Leggat family, The Hair Extension Company, CW Events, Imperial Equestrian, Nodwood House Equine, Lassetter Dressage, Hughes Dressage and SEC Ltd.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of our sponsors,” added Daniel Watson. “For many, this is their first step into equestrian sponsorship, and the Dressage Masters offers an opportunity to showcase their brands on an international stage.”

A Celebration of British Dressage

Founded by Dane Rawlins, the Dressage Masters returns to Hickstead offering riders at all levels the chance to experience competing in an international atmosphere at one of the sport’s most iconic locations.

The event runs alongside the Chart Stables International Dressage at Hickstead CDI, creating a week-long celebration of dressage excellence that welcomes everyone from grassroots competitors to international stars.
