Constitution Hill is already being referred to as one of the greatest hurdlers of all time, and he enhanced his reputation further with victory in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Nicky Henderson’s runner has now won four races at Grade One level. He maintained his 100% record with a 17-length success at the Surrey-based racecourse. Under the hands of Nico de Boinville, he cantered home on the bridle, finishing ahead of former Champion Hurdle winner Epatante and Highway One O Two respectively.

This latest win was the five-year-old’s second success of the season. He made his return to action in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. That was his opening appearance outside of novice company, but the result remained the same, as his rivals could not get close to him in the closing stages of that race.

Champion Hurdle is Where Constitution Hill Will Build His Legacy

Constitution Hill remains on course for the Champion Hurdle where he is sure to be popular with horse racing bettors for the 2m contest on day one of the Cheltenham Festival.

Those looking to bet on the Champion Hurdle can turn to Sports Betting Portfolio today for tips on the Cheltenham Festival to see if Henderson’s star features in the advised selection. Expert tipsters have already analysed the Championship contest and they will give their view on the unbeaten hurdler. Constitution Hill is now 2/7 with bet365, one of the mainstream bookmakers used on the service. He could go off as one of the shortest-priced favourites in many years for the premier hurdles race.

The Champion Hurdle is the most prestigious hurdles contest in the sport, so connections of Constitution Hill will be excited about his prospects in the race. He won over the same C&D in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the meeting in 2022.

Five horses have been able to land the Champion Hurdle on three occasions. Hatton’s Grace, Sir Ken, Persian War, See You Then and Istabraq all managed that feat. Given what they achieved, they set the standard for Constitution Hill to reach to become one of the best 2m hurdlers in the history of the sport.

Defending Champion Honeysuckle Likely to Return for Hat-Trick Bid

If Honeysuckle lines up in the Champion Hurdle in March, she will be bidding for her third straight success in the race. The talented mare has won 12 Grade One races in her career. She has consistently been the leading horse in the division over the last few years.

De Bromhead’s runner needs to bounce back from a disappointing performance at Fairyhouse on her seasonal reappearance. She could only finish third of eight runners in the race which was won by Teahupoo.

State Man and Vauban are both set to represent Willie Mullins in the Champion Hurdle this year. The Irishman has been successful in the race on four occasions. His last victory was in 2016 with Annie Power.Fans of Constitution Hill will be hoping the best is still to come from the horse. If he continues winning with such ease, he could go on to pick up one of the highest official ratings of all time
