Britain’s eventing Nations Cup team announced to decide series title
British Eventing is delighted to announce the Nations Cup team who will represent Great Britain – and decide the series title – at the final leg of the 2017 competition. Hosted from 5 – 8 October at Boekelo Horse Trials (NED), the team, in alphabetical order, are:
Laura Collett and Maggie Sargent’s nine year old gelding Cooley Again
Matthew Heath with Hazel Livesey’s 11 year old gelding Cooley Lord Lux
Tom McEwen on Fred and Penny Barker’s 10 year old gelding Strike Smartly
Holly Woodhead and Parkfield Breeding’s British-bred nine year old gelding Parkfield Quintessential
With 590 points, Great Britain head into the final leg in the lead of the overall series, however on 580 points there is just a ten point advantage over closest competitors Germany. Britain’s run of good form in the 3* series has seen them taking second place at five of the eight events hosted so far, but it will all come down to the team results at the Dutch event to decide the winners of the 2017 Nations Cup.
The GBR Eventing teams are supported by the National Lottery funded Equestrian World Class Programme a portfolio within the British Equestrian Federation. The programme focuses on identifying talent, developing potential and maximising medal-winning performances on the world stage. The Programme has been funded by the National Lottery via UK Sport since 1998.
