Barbury International Welcomes New Event Management

Barbury International has appointed a new event management team, Musketeer Event Management.  Already staging Burnham Market and Houghton International, as well as numerous One Day Events, the Musketeer EM team has taken over the reins at this prestigious fixture that takes place this year  from 4th – 7th July.

Alec Lochore is arguably the most experienced Event Director in the field. His previous roles include Eventing Competition Manager at the London 2012 Olympic Games and the forthcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as well as Event Director of the Longines FEI European Eventing Championships at Blair Castle 2015. His experience covers grass roots to championship, green field site to established venue, making him ideally suited to develop this spectacular venue.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to take over the running of Barbury International,”

said Alec.

Since it first ran in 2005, the event has attracted many of the very best athletes in the sport and is a major fixture in the International Eventing calendar. British Eventing will always be indebted to Nigel and Penny Bunter who had the vision to start the event, running it up until 2016. I also pay respect to Chris Stone and the Event Rider Masters team who have organised it for the last couple of years and have been so supportive in this transition period. My team and I relish the chance to continue its success and build on its established popularity.”

As so often happens with big changes, there are new opportunities for high level corporate involvement. St James Place has been a loyal and supportive title sponsor of the event, but the time has come for the company to change its focus. Barbury International can now offer a new title sponsor this exciting chance to join our team.

With Barbury’s stunning setting on the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire, this year’s visitors can expect to see a few changes – but also the world class sporting action and family entertainment for which Barbury is so well known.
