Xena, a Rescued Horse Who Was Already in Foal, Welcomes a Beautiful Colt

Alltech and World Horse Welfare are thrilled to announce that Xena, the mare that arrived at Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in-foal and neglected, has given birth to a gorgeous colt foal.

Xena is being supported in her rehabilitation by Alltech, who is closely following the progress of both her and her foal. In recognition of Alltech’s support, World Horse Welfare kindly gave the honour of naming Xena’s foal to Alltech’s UK Marketing Manager, Isla Baker-Browne.

After much deliberation, the name ‘Tsar’ was chosen, befitting of his status as the son of a warrior princess. Xena has proven herself to be an excellent mum and Tsar is already melting hearts amongst the staff.

“We were touched that World Horse Welfare wanted us to choose a name and hope that Tsar goes on to live a happy life and never has to know the hardship that his mum had to endure.” said Isla.

Groom Lorraine Holmes is more than happy to have her workload increased by caring for the new arrival and his mum: “Tsar is a very big baby and it has taken him a little longer for his limbs to straighten up. He is such a handsome, cheeky chap.

“Xena is a very good mum, who has obviously had a foal before. She was a little bit worried to begin with when we were trying to handle Tsar in the early days but she seems to be settling down now.”

With the support from Alltech and the tireless work of World Horse Welfare, Xena and Tsar will have a very bright future ahead.
