What to do When Unable to Attend Racing Events in Person in 2021

With the country in the middle of another lockdown, there will be many people out there who are dreaming of the days when we will once again be allowed to meet friends and family at sporting events for a fun day out.

When the country was plunged into a third lockdown back in January, sports like football and rugby had begun to allow a small number of fans back into the stadiums, but only in areas where infection rates were low, and by always enforcing the use of social distancing and masks.

Horse racing was somewhat similar. For the most part, only essential staff and team members could attend the racing events, with fans of the event watching from home instead. Much like football, rugby, and other sports, horse racing has been allowed to continue behind closed doors since the country went back into lockdown; something we are confident has brought a sense of normality to some people’s lives.

While it still appears a while yet until we will be able to attend and enjoy these events in person, there are things that you can do as a spectator at home, to bring you the same thrill that you get while at the racecourse.

If you have found that you are missing attending these events and are sat at home twiddling your thumbs rather than cheering on your favourite horse and jockey, you are in luck! We have compiled a helpful list of suggestions for all those out there who feel a little lost. Read on for some inspiration!

Watching on the TV

We recognise that for the most part, this is bound to be something that most, if not all race fans are already doing when wanting to get their fix of a day-at-the-races. While it does not entirely give the same atmosphere and would be a bit out of the ordinary to sit with a fascinator on your head in your home, it is undoubtedly, the next best thing.

With most of the events in the horse racing calendar televised to the masses on free-to-access TV channels, you can rest assured that you will be able to cheer on your favourite from the comfort of your sofa; certainly, beats getting caught in the rain, if you ask us!

Naturally, we recognise that some people will read this, who attend the horse racing events for the opportunity to bet on the races and leave the day with a profit in your back pocket.

While there are separate apps available to bet on the races while watching them unfold on live television, it doesn’t feel quite the same, leading us to the next suggestion.

Online Racing Events

We are confident that without the advancement of technology, we would be completely lost. What would the last year have looked like without computers, the internet, and other resources? Certainly would have made things a lot different than they were or are.

The same can be said for online events and sports. The internet has made accessing sporting events a lot easier than before, not to mention, provided substitutes for events for times like now when we are unable to attend due to reasons outside of our control.

Mainly, if you like attending the horse racing to bet against your friends, this is an ideal thing for you to try when missing being at the horse racing in person.

Many online casino websites provide users with various live races, including that of horse racing and more. What’s more, those who use the websites can expect to be met with various other facilities, including slot games and roulette. Perfect for those who want the feel of being at the races, followed by a night on the town – or kitchen – afterwards!

Online Casino Review provides online users like yourself with a list of the best online casinos for watching horse racing and beyond. Not to mention, they provide advice on how to safely get started for any newbies that might be reading. Experience the glitz and the glamour of being at the races from your own home; what more could you want?

Organising a Themed Night

This suggestion might seem a bit far-fetched at present, particularly when current government guidance suggests that we are unable to mix with anyone outside of our households.

However, that does not mean that you cannot plan a night like this for when we can mingle with extended family and friends again! With the prospect of crowds at sports a while off yet, we are confident that hosting a themed night in your home will make up for the inability to attend an event like this. Not to mention, you could even host a night-at-the-races party on Zoom!

Get the drinks flowing and wear your most fashionable outfits. You could even incorporate the online races to make it feel like you are at your local racecourse. The choice is entirely yours!
