Strangles – Kelsall Hill Report Now Clear

Strangles Kelsall Hill update

Kelsall Hill reported on the 26/05/2016 they are now clear of any infection and are officially open.

They released the following statement “We apologise for the inconvenience of closing the facilities during this period and thank you all for your positive messages of support while we have been closed.

We know a lot more about temperature surveillance, biosecurity and disinfectants than we did! There are no doubt a number of lessons to be learned about how we progress and reduce our risk of future infections.”

Facilities that have now been opened include the farm ride, cross country schooling field, the Landtech arena, small arena and gallop. The British Eventing course remains closed.

The team at Kelsall Hill have been busy while the popular Cheshire based equestrian centre has been closed. Fences surrounding the facilities have been creosoted and jumps disinfected. Other work that’s been carried out includes a revamp of the farm ride, ground maintenance and repairs.

Perhaps the largest shift has come in the form of a re-designed cross-country course. With the idea of offering a new range of challenges, Gilly Milner has been busy re-positioning many of the fences.

Phil Latham, Director of Kelsall Hill Ltd, has asked for owners to act responsibly when using the facilities; “If you are on a yard with strangles please act responsibly and wait till you are clear before booking our facilities”
