Jonty Evans to Continue Recovery in the UK

Jonty Evans, the Irish 4* eventer, is set to continue his recovery in the UK after suffering a serious head injury.

Evans had been receiving treatment in hospitals in Ireland, after sustaining a life-threatening head injury and being induced into a coma. The event rider sustained the head injury after falling from his ride, Cooley Rorkes Drift, at Tattersall Horse Trials on 3rd June.

Evans has began to speak for the first time since the fall and is now returning to the UK for further rehabilitation work.

After his journey to the UK, Evans said;

Horse Sport Ireland also issued a statement on behalf of Evans and his family;

“His recovery will take a significant period of time but the long term outlook is encouraging.”

“Jonty and his family are extremely grateful for all the medical treatment and care he has received from all the wonderful Staff at the Beaumont and Connolly Hospitals, the support from the David Foster Injured Riders Fund, as well as the continued best wishes from all his friends, colleagues and supporters.”

Horse Sport Ireland also states that although Evans has made “good progress”, medical advise requests a “quiet and calm environment” whilst Evans continues to recover.
