Irish Rider Marion Hughes Fights off International Competition at Bolesworth

This afternoon’s  CSI4* 1m35 class started as the heavens opened for Bolesworth International. Marion Hughes (IRL) riding the 2001 mare, Heritage HHS Fortuna, took first place finishing on a time of 43.9 with British rider, Keith Shore on board Zegreanne Z, unbelievably close behind in second on 64.1. Hughes fought off Internationally recognised names such as Geoff Billington, Trevor Breen, Bill Twoomey and Whitaker duo, William and Michael.

There were 23 clear rounds in total. Emma Augier DeMoussac for CZ riding Copia rode a strong and fast clear, putting the pressure on from an early stage of the competition.

All of the top three riders finished within a second of each other. In third was British rider Douglas Duffin riding Chiquito Z on 64.46.

Jay Haylim, riding the KWPN gelding Abrisco, was last out resulting in a last-minute snatch of fourth place from British rider Holly Gillot.

Guy Williams finished in sixth with his KWPN stallion, Golddigger.

Still to come is the CSI 4* 1m50 class and the evening dressage performances.

Matt Frost will open this evenings Inter I class for the dressage with Charlie Hutton, Laura Tomlinson and last, but by no means least, Charlotte Dujardin.

To finish off the day’s action at Bolesworth, the Grand Prix Freestyle with Emile Faurie, Hayley Watson-Greaves, Richard Davison and world dressage superstar, Carl Hester will by lighting up the International arena ahead of the live band act to close.
