Fun in the Sun at Somerford Park Premier League Dressage

Written by Daisy Jackson

What a fantastic show Somerford Premier League was yesterday!

Absolutely nothing better than to sit in the sun watching some top quality dressage from some of the UK’s finest riders.

First to take a win was Maya Goldberg riding Torino in the PSG section 2. Maya gained a very strong 71.93%, securing herself a win in one of the first classes of the day.

At the top of the leader board in the PSG section 1 was Jacky Stolper with Luciano Pavarotti with just shy of the magic 70, 69.25%. Jacky then went on to secure second place in the Inter I with an even better score of 69.78%.

Moving onto the Inter I, our biggest score of the day, was achieved by winning combination Rebecca Edwards and Don Archie with a mega 74.43%. Almost 5% more than second place, it was no wonder the crowd was wowed by their performance.

Last, but by far no means least, came the Inter II with a very hot line up. It may not come as a surprise to many, that Becky Moody stole the class with 71.8% riding her way to victory on the beautiful Carinsio. Just a whisker behind Becky with 70.31% riding Don Carissimo was Gareth Hughes, who had been leading the class from the beginning. To finish it was Pippa Hutton to take third place on Belmondo III with another close score of 69.69%.

Overall it was a fantastic day, full of fantastic riders, horses and scores. There’s nothing more inspiring than watching some of the best British Dressage riders, and their horses, perform at such a beautiful setting, that is, Somerford Park.
