Top Competition and smiles at Osberton International

The crowds came out in their droves to enjoy an action packed third day at Osberton International.

John-Paul Sheffield and the talented chestnut, Cathmore Fusion owned by Vanessa Garfoot started the day well when heading a fantastic line up in the British Eventing 5YO Championship.

“I was delighted with him today, he was a star and I am very excited about his future, he is definitely looking like a Le Lion horse,” said John-Paul.

“He was produced by Ginnie Turnbull last year who did a brilliant job with him and I have had him since February this year.”

In the British Eventing 6YO Championship it was the turn of Jodie Amos and the Sara Brown owned ride, Rubin Moon SB.

Said Jodie: “He’s not the biggest horse but has a lot of talent and has always shown plenty of ablity.

“He’s a real competition horse and pulls out his best.  Sometimes things just go right and he has been great in all three phases, I couldn’t have asked for any more.”

Gloucestershire-based Stephen Heal and the 16.3hh, chestnut, Quidam De Lux finished at the head of the leader board in the British Eventing 7YO Championship after a consistent run throughout.

In the lead after the dressage, Stephen went into second place after the cross-country but secured a win following the show jumping section much to his delight.

Said Stephen: “I have been riding him for three years and am very pleased with his progress .  He did a fantastic dressage test and is a great mover.

“I was a bit frustrated to be a second over the time on the cross-country but he is an amazing jumper and did a great round in the showjumping.

“In the back of our minds we will aim for the Blenheim 8 and 9-year-olds but there is no pressure and we will just consolidate on the work this year.”

In the Investec CCI2*-L the leader board stays unchanged with Susie Berry and Gortins House, Toots Bartlett and Freestyle R, and Willa Newton holding the top three spots.

Izzy Taylor and Carolines Air KM are in pole position in the BEDE CCI3*-L, with Kevin McNab and Aoife Clark holding second and third.
