‘The House Pony’ Book Review

The House Pony, An ABC of Horsemanship – written by Juliet Blaxland, published by The Crowood Press www.crowood.com

A heart warming story about a pony rescued from wandering along a busy motorway, who found his way to a new home with the rather aptly named ‘Aunt Jelly’. As the story unfolds, each page allows the reader to enjoy the progress of the pony’s journey coupled with valuable facts about caring for a pony and understanding their needs.

‘A stunningly illustrated book… This will be hugely enjoyed and greatly learnt from’ Lucinda Green, MBE

Together with her scruffy tomboy niece, Tuffyhead, Aunt Jelly welcomes the pony into her crumbly country home to live as a house pony with a large number of other animals, that she has also been tasked with caring for since rescue. The journey of learning, for Tuffyhead and exploration for The House Pony, is echoed throughout the book.

In alphabetical order the author, Juliet Blaxland, uses wonderful animation to visually demonstrate various points that are crucial to a horse’s welfare.
