Horse & Country TV air Rolex Grand Prix from Spruce Meadows LIVE on 10th September 2017
Horse & Country TV today announced there will be a broadcasting of the Rolex Grand Prix, at Spruce Meadows in Canada, LIVE in the UK on Sunday 10 September 2017.
Spruce Meadows is one of the most prestigious equestrian venues in the world, attracting the sport’s biggest names since 1976. In September, it hosts the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’, which features the Rolex Grand Prix. This is one of three legs in the Rolex Grand Slam, which is the toughest competition in showjumping, offering the biggest prize money. Any rider that can consecutively win the Rolex Grand Prix in Spruce Meadows, Geneva and Aachen receives a €1m bonus.
So far, the only rider to have achieved the prestigious title is Scott Brash, riding the super talented Hello Sanctos. Scott then won the Rolex Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows in 2016, for the second year running! Can he achieve another world first, with a hat trick of wins?

The Belgian rider celebrates his 37th birthday on 10 September, so a win in Calgary would be the perfect present. “Every rider dreams of winning the Rolex Grand Slam of Showjumping,” said Grégory. “The Majors are the best and most difficult shows in our sport. You have to compete against the strongest pairs in the world and I know that it will be very difficult to also win in Calgary. But for me this is now perhaps a unique opportunity and I will put all my energy into it.”
Other top names competing this year are world number one Kent Farrington (USA), Ben Maher (UK), Henrick von Eckermann (Sweden), Maikel van der Vleuten (the Netherlands), and Cian O’Connor (Ireland) – to name a few. Cian is definitely one to watch, as he comes to Calgary off the back of his European team gold and individual bronze medals.
Riders competing on home turf include Tiffany Foster, Ian Millar – who won the Rolex Grand Prix in 2014 at the age of 68 – and Eric Lamaze, who won in 2011 and 2007. Sports fans can watch all the action LIVE on H&C TV.
The Rolex Grand Prix will broadcast at 7pm on Sunday 10 September in the UK and Ireland, and 8pm in Sweden and The Netherlands.
