Liverpool International Horse Show – Wirral-born Emily Ward to compete at Inaugural Show!

Emily Ward will hope to make it a case of home sweet home when she lines up alongside many of her fellow exciting young British showjumping prospects at the Equestrian.com Liverpool International Horse Show.

At 16, Emily is one of the sport’s rising stars – a fact she underlined by becoming the youngest-ever British Under-23 champion in 2012, aged just 13.

And while she is now located in Nottinghamshire, working with her mentor and trainer Michael Whitaker, Emily’s family base is on the Wirral, which makes the inaugural Liverpool show from January 1-3 an event not to be missed.

“This is so exciting for the sport in my area,” Emily said. “Hopefully, it will get people involved and give people a chance to get out there and see what showjumping is all about.

“It is a fantastic new show in a city centre location, and I am really looking forward to being part of it all.”

Emily is joined among the confirmed Liverpool under-25 entries by the likes of Pippa Allen, Millie Allen, Jake Saywell, Harry Charles – son of London 2012 Olympic gold medallist and Liverpool-born Peter Charles – Christie Pritchard, Amy Inglis and Lara Whiteway – with the show providing an important launchpad for 2016 ambitions.

“Winning the under-23 title three years ago will always be a huge achievement for me,” added Emily, whose family own the Wirral Riding Centre. “But having now moved from ponies on to horses, I have a number of new goals and ambitions for 2016, including the European Junior Championships.

“Working with Michael, who is among the world’s best riders, to have his guidance and support is pretty indescribable, really.”

The Equestrian.com Liverpool International Horse Show, which runs from 1-3 January 2016 at the waterfront Echo Arena, is set to be a fantastic occasion for all the family.

Each day will host both afternoon and evening performances; with a 6,000 strong audience at each viewing. The action-packed schedule combines world-class show jumping with high quality shopping and an array of show-stopping displays and performances to give a truly unforgettable family experience.

Besides the thrilling 4* showjumping action, attracting famous names from around the globe, there will be a fantastic entertainment line-up for everyone to enjoy. This includes the ever popular Shetland Pony Grand National, The Bootleg Beatles tribute act, and Clémence Faivre, a truly spectacular horsewoman making her name in the equestrian arts and performance industry, who is set to give a spellbinding display, working closely with her Lusitano horses.

French-born Clémence performs extraordinary stunt movements with her horses which often have no bit or bridle and perform in total freedom.

Besides the mesmerising displays and showjumping, there will be a fabulous shopping village in a hall housing the collecting ring, champagne bar and bistro offering a quality selection of trade stands.
