Horse Found with an Arrow in His Head is Recovering Well
A horse found with an arrow in his head in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire is being treated by the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), Hatfield.
The 15-month-old colt, Widget, was found on Saturday evening around 7pm. He was initially treated by vet Nicole Larkin, of RVC.
The arrow had narrowly missed his eye and other important vital structures. The RVC have said Widget is “comfortable and recovering well after surgery” and they are “delighted with his progress so far.”
Everything Horse caught up with Widget’s owner Hannah Dorsett, to ‘check in’ on his recovery so far “he’s doing better than expected, he’s such a lucky little boy and is healing nicely. He will be staying with the RVC until Monday in case of an abscess or infection forming but, so far so good! He’s a little trooper and just back to himself, he’s such a placid little man that he’s taken everything in his stride and seems pretty un fazed.
“The RVC vets are amazing the RSPCA have been great. The Atacanter horse transport, the police and everyone involved are incredible we are so lucky”
A £1,000 reward for information provided, that will bring those responsible for this unimaginable act to justice, will be put forward.

In a statement taken from the Hertfordshire Constabulary website, investigating officer DS Dan Stoddart said “This appears to be a senseless, cruel crime and we are doing all we can to find the person responsible”.
Police have appealed for witnesses. Stoddart, from the Three Rivers Local Crime Unit is appealing to anyone “who was in the area of the field” on Saturday 18th June to come forward should they have seen “anyone acting suspiciously”.
