This weather really needs to stop! Where is the sun?? We are now two months into the eventing season and I have only done two events out of the five that I had entered due to weather and bad ground conditions stopping play! This isn’t the best start to the season, but it’s not only us eventers who are feeling it, I can’t help but feel so sorry for the event organisers and course designers who put so much work into organising an event then to only have it cancelled because of the blooming weather! So, to ensure that the horses are kept fit and out and about, as my dad would say ‘she’s gone to the dark side’ I’ve been out Show Jumping!!! I have to admit I used to really hate show jumping, but recently I’ve been having lessons with Show Jumper Max Routledge and its given me a completely different outlook on it, I now love it!!!! And secretly I love all the bling too… So every weekend since my last blog has consisted of Show jumping mainly Newcomers and Foxhunter. I’m even doing my entries for Hickstead #watchthisspace

Anyway, aside from the showjumping I have still been training for my eventing and this has involved dressage training with international dressage rider Fiona Bigwood (Fiona gave me my horse Dramatic Effect.. or Boo as he is known so she is keen to help us both from a personal view too). Boo and I have been whipped (Not literally!) into shape and I came out of the arena with very sore stomach muscles and sweating even more then Boo!

I’ve also had some cross-country training with Emily Llewellyn as well and apparently, ‘I’ve got to learn to take of the handbrake!!!’

Finally this weekend I will be able to put this all into practice, where (fingers crossed) I will be going to Chilliam Castle to run all my horses round the Novice. 4 fresh horses, 12 disciplines and then a very tired jockey at the end! I Can’t WAIT – fingers crossed for good weather and ground !!!!
