Great Britain’s dressage team get their Olympic Games underway
After the eventing cross-country action in Deodoro, the dressage team athletes got their Rio 2016 Olympic Games underway late this afternoon when the dressage Horse Inspection took place.
The British team of Fiona Bigwood (Atterupgaards Orthilia, owned by Penny Bigwood and Neils and Lis Dahl), Charlotte Dujardin (Valegro, owned by Rowena Luard, Anne Barrott and Carl Hester), Carl Hester (Nip Tuck, owned by Jane De La Mare and Carl), Spencer Wilton (Super Nova II, owned by Jennifer Goodman and Spencer) and travelling reserve Lara Griffith (Rubin Al Asad, owned by Wilfried and Ursula Bechtolsheimer) all sailed through the inspection at the Olympic Equestrian Centre.
Yesterday evening the team order has been confirmed for the GB dressage team by Team Manager Richard Waygood. The competition gets underway on Wednesday (10 August), with two days of Grand Prix tests, before the Grand Prix Special on Friday.
Spencer Wilton and Fiona Bigwood will lead the British team out on Wednesday, whilst Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin will take to the arena on Thursday.
