Equine Construction Present Prize to Highest Places Rider

Equine Construction continued their support of the British Dressage Advanced Medium Championships for a third season with great success.

For a second year running the Gold and Silver sections were hotly contested with Charlotte Dujardin running away with victory in the Gold classification.  The double Olympic Gold medallist stole the show with Ekitof to win on 74.79%, closely followed by Florentina VI on 74.16%, to take the 1, 2.

Jessica Dunn took 3rd with LG Alicante Valley on 71.63% and was awarded the ‘highest placed rider to Charlotte’ prize by Equine Construction’s, Managing Director, David Johnson.

Jessica Dunn jokingly commented:

“That’s how the classes should be redesigned, that Charlotte gets 1st and 2nd automatically and we all get a different 1st and 2nd

“It was a great feeling…She’s (Charlotte Dujardin) great for the sport and just phenomenal, so it gives you a bit of a push. Coming second to Charlotte really is just like winning” added Jessica.

Jessica didn’t have the most conventional preparation for the championships, following a break to a non-weight bearing bone in her ankle, with doctors only granting her permission to ride just days before the Championships.

“It’s amazing, especially on that horse.  He was wired in the Prix St George and I thought he wasn’t going to cope with the atmosphere.  He came out and I just had no strength in my leg left.  I apologised to the owners and I was so disappointed.  I made 3 mistakes that really cost me, if I hadn’t made them I’d have been on a par or just ahead of Charlotte.”

Equine Construction’s David Johnson commented:

“We are delighted to be sponsoring British Dressage and we came up with the idea of the additional prize in recognition of the high quality of other riders and horses in our class.  We recognise the challenges when competing at National level against double Olympic gold medallist and former World Number 1 Charlotte Dujardin, so we created an additional prize of a bottle of Champagne for the highest placed rider to Charlotte.”

Equine Construction are delighted to confirmed that they will be continuing their sponsorship of the British Dressage Advanced Medium Championships into 2018.
