The first day of competition here at the British Showjumping National Championships, we welcomed the brand new for 2016, British Showjumping – Just for Schools National Championship classes.

This exciting new Championship allows schools and colleges across the UK to submit teams of three or four riders and individuals within a specific height category: 70cm, 80cm, 90cm, 1.00m or 1.10m. There are two qualifying routes for the final; either by being within the top eight of the British Showjumping – just for schools team league/top ten of the individual league table or via one of two direct qualifiers.

Team winners of the 70cm Championship were Llandovery Hawks all the way from Wales, followed by Kings of Wessex gold from the south west. The individual winner was Eviee Smith riding Rosedale Vectra and in second place was Megan Cowan riding Kiss N Tell III.

In the 80cm Championship, The Cottesloe School team took the spoils with Albyn School in second place. The individual win went to Charley Hamilton riding Kayem Fridays Dance and in close second was Megan Cowan riding Tullycars Peekaboo.
