Andrew Nicholson Withdraws from Badminton

Andrew Nicholson has announced his withdrawal from Badminton Horse Trials a day ahead of the start to this year’s event.

The New Zealand rider who has competed in six Olympic Games is no stranger to the turf at Badminton and will no doubt be missed along with Pippa Funnell and William Fox-Pitt.

Yet another rider fresh from Withington Manor Horse Trials, Nicholson commented he felt unsure over his level of fitness following his serious injury last season. He followed by assuring horse, Nero, was fit and ready for competition.

Nicholson, who is based in the UK, was almost left paralysed following a serious neck injury. The accident happened when he fell at the last fence during cross country, at the CIC*** Gatcombe Horse Trials last August (2015).
